Orested's Apparatus

Orested's Apparatus   (EE - 569)

To explain the effect of flow of current in conductor on the magnetic needle. Consist of a rectangular section of copper wire of dia. 6mm, mounted on an insulating base over a post on the axis of which a 75mm magnetic needle is mounted. When current flows in the conductor, needles moves around depending on the direction of flow of current.

Ampere's Rule Apparatus   (EE - 570)

Study the magnetic field around a wire. Consists of a heavy copper wire arranged so that iron fillings can show the direction of the field around the vertical portion of the wire. A compass can be placed under the horizontal portion of the wire for showing the same effect. By sending current through the wire and noting the directions in which the needle points, one can trace the lines of force around the wire and also determine the direction of the current.

Induced Current Apparatus

Induced Current Apparatus   (EE - 572)

Used for the study of induced currents, comprises of two solenoids with one smaller of dia to fit in the bigger one. The resistance of the first solenoid is O.Sohms wound on former 110 x 30 (Ixd) and second having resistance of 120 ohms (Approx.) on former 110 x 82mm (Ixd). Both the solenoids are prepared with enameled copper wire and two 4mm socket terminals are mounted on each. Supplied complete with one soft iron core, wnrks on 6-12 VAC/DC.

Double'C' Core and Clip   (EE - 574)

Each core is laminated from low loss iron strip to form a rectangular core 90x50x22mm approx. with cross section of 22xl2mm and cut across the middle to produce two equal 'C's. A strong steel clip is provided to hold the two pieces together.

4mm socket terminal. The coils fits on to a double 'C' core,
easy to make low voltage a.c. transformer. May also be
used as electromagnet if used on one half of the 'C' core.

This simple solenoid is to explain the electromagnetic field outside and inside a solenoid. A heavy gauge copper wire, wound and mounted on wooden base and provided with 4mm sockf terminals. Suitable for field demonstration using iron fillings o using a small compass needle. Overall dimensions: 330 x 260 x 87mm. Solenoid current carrying capacity is 10 Amp.

Used for the study of the flux density in air gap. A circular plastic bobine is wounded with suitable gauge copper wire. This coil is mounted on a tubular metal handle, total nos. of turns is 100 and coil resistance of approx. 2.0Amp. Provided with one meter long insulated connecting leads with connectors for external connections.
