Inertia Apparatus   (MC-1133)

Simple form, to demonstrate the inertia of a body at rest. A sheet of cardboard may be removed from beneath a steel ball, without displacing the ball from its original position.

Variable Inertia Bar   (MC-1134)

It is to demonstrate to students that the torque necessary to accelerate a flywheel depends on its moment of Inertia rather than its mass. A steel bar 12 mm dia x 785 mm long is mounted at its centre on a sleeved spindle. The spindle is extended through a sleeve so that ; bar may be rotated by means of a weight and string. Heavy adjustable bobs are mounted on each end of the bar and may be clamped at desired position enabling the inertia of the system to be varied as required.

Atwood Machine   (MC-1136)

Consists of a full length metal upright 245cm long graduated in cms, to be mounted vertically near a wall by means of two brackets. A light weight accurate frictionless wheel of 10cm dia is mounted on it's top. Three adjustable clamps move along the rod. Upper carrying a ring and lower carrying a platform and the third is equipped with electric release system. The unit is all metallic and complete with two sets of falling weights and rider weight.

This pendulum is used to investigate the relationship between the period of oscillation of a rigid bar pendulum and the distance of its suspension point from its centre of mass. It comprises a steel rectangular bar 1 meter long, drilled at 50 mm intervals. A removable steel knife edge, mounted perpendicularly, a wall bracket is provided for suspension.

'g' By Free Fall Apparatus

'g' By Free Fall Apparatus   (MC-1144)

This apparatus is used to determine 'g' by measuring the time of fall of a steel ball through a pre-determined distance. The time taken being less than one second, a cent! second/milli second timer capable of measuring the time in fraction of seconds has to be used. Comprises two units each of which is mounted on a plastic which can be clamped on a 12 mm diameter retort rod. Connections are taken out to 4 mm sockets. The solenoid unit has a metal core which facilitates prompt release of the sphere on deenergising. The gate switch comprises a hinged steel plate to hold against an adjustable contact by means of a small permanent magnet, the plate falls away promptly at the impact of falling steel ball. The apparatus is supplied with a solenoid unit, gate switch, Steel Ball 18 mm dia and a stand.
